An Introduction to Magick

What is Magick?
Turning people into toads, sending bolts of lightning from your fingertips, making someone instantly fall in love with you. Are these acts of magick? While they are the most enduring images we as a society hold about magick and sorcery, they are fictional accounts. If you are a new-comer to magick, you will probably find that it is not what you have been taught to think.
Magick has been defined by the noted occultist Aleister Crowley as, “The art and science of causing change to occur in conformity with will”. Simply put this means bringing about a desired change by force of your willpower and personal energy.
If we believe that everything in the universe has an energy field or aura, then we can affect that energy field by the concentrated application of our willpower and spending some of our personal energy. What is more, if we add our energy to other corresponding energies found in candles, oils, incense etc, this creates a more effective change in the energy of another being, thing or in yourself.
